In conjunction with the Northern Australia Aboriginal Kakadu Plum Alliance (NAAKPA) Steering Committee meeting in Broome last month, committee members participated in a pandanis weaving workshop coordinated by Pat Torres from Mayi Harvests.

The workshop was an opportunity to show women in #Broome pandanis leaf #harvesting and preparation methods and then to demonstrate different #weaving techniques.

Pat said this was an important women’s craft which has been lost in the #Broome area and that this type of weaving could be used to package #bushfoods and #bushmedicine products produced by local women.

The workshop was well attended.  For further information, please contact Mayi Harvests: https://naakpa.com.au/alliance-members/mayi-harvests
